StoryCorner is our segment where short fiction stories are read aloud, recorded and posted as episodes separate from the review episodes.
At this time, we are unable to pay contributors. However, if a story receives a donation, part of that donation will be forwarded to the contributing author. We encourage authors to post links to the episode and spread the word about the show.
We are partial to stories and poetry written by teens and children. If you are under the age of 18, please be sure to note your age with your submission.
Currently we are looking for good holiday stories, specifically. Thanksgiving, Christmas, Chanukuh, Valentine's Day, etc. We are also looking for poetry to read in each episode.
Please read our guidelines carefully.
1. We publish Young Adult and Childrens fiction short stories and poetry. Please do not send in stories with adult themes, language or content. Please listen to a few podcasts to understand what we publish and what we discuss.
***We greatly appreciate writing samples in the form of mini-reviews on books in the YA/Childrens genres. This demonstrates an understanding of the content we review and publish.
2. Stories should be 5,000 words or less. We will consider longer, serialized stories, but it is very rare.
3. Even though we are small, we appreciate receiving pieces that are edited well. If there are glaring grammar or spelling mistakes, we will not consider publishing the piece.
4. Submissions should be sent to us as an attachment in an email to submissions@yaliteraturereview.com and should have a cover letter. Please format your manuscript as you would for any other publisher.
5. We reserve the right to edit or ask for changes to be made if we accept a piece for publication.
6. We acquire one-time publication rights. Any further use of your work will be cleared and contracted before it is published.
7. We operate on a Creative Commons license. Your work is copyrighted and you retain all rights however, due to the public nature of the podcast, listeners are allowed to share the recordings as long as they don't change it or try to sell it.
8. By sending us your submission, you verify that the work is your own and you have the right to submit it for publication.
